CAR KEY HELP · TOYOTA
A Toyota remote that works only at short range is a different problem from a key that has disappeared. Before ordering a replacement in Wilmington or Leland, describe which functions still work and whether another key behaves normally.
Check the manual before buying a battery
Toyota’s 2024 Corolla manual distinguishes the battery used by a conventional remote from the battery used by a smart key. That example shows why a battery recommendation should be matched to the specific vehicle and key rather than copied across the whole brand. Use the manual for your model year and equipment; a housing that looks familiar is not a parts identifier.

Keep a missing key request separate
For an all-keys-lost inquiry, collect the year, model and start type and mention every remaining mechanical or electronic key. If you have a key-number plate, keep it secure and available for the authorized service conversation. Toyota’s 2020 Corolla manual treats lost electronic keys as an access-security concern, so ask about the missing key’s future authorization as well as a new key.
What should I ask before approving work?
Confirm whether the proposed task concerns a battery, case, mechanical blade, electronic key or a complete replacement. Ask which functions will be checked afterward and whether any working keys need to be present. For a mobile service inquiry, provide your exact parking location and request a compatibility check before buying a remote.
