A Volvo key conversation should identify the type of key as well as the model year. A standard remote, a smaller tag and an available mechanical key should not be assumed to have the same maintenance or replacement requirements.
Use a reference that names the key
Volvo’s 2024 V60 Recharge guidance specifically covers the standard key battery and describes a low-battery message in the instrument panel. That scope matters: a procedure headed ‘standard key’ is not automatically guidance for every Volvo key or tag. Look up the manual for your vehicle and key type before opening the device.

Tell us what the vehicle recognizes
Report whether door access works, whether the vehicle starts and what warning is displayed. Say whether another key remains usable and whether the key was damaged or lost. If the remote is present but unreliable, describe that separately from an all-keys-lost replacement.
Plan compatibility before the visit
For Wilmington or Leland inquiries, give the year, model and parking location and ask whether the required work can be arranged for that key system. Review the parts, service route and estimate before purchasing a remote. Keep remaining keys available for the authorized service discussion.
