GMC Keyless Start Trouble or a Missing Fob?

CAR KEY HELP · GMC

A GMC fob that is present but not detected needs a different conversation from a key that has been lost. Record the exact dashboard message and say whether another fob works. The service plan should follow that distinction.

Low power is an operating question first

GMC’s Keyless Open and Start guidance explains that fob battery or signal power issues have model-specific handling, including a designated key pocket on equipped vehicles. Consult the vehicle’s own manual for its location and instructions. A backup operating provision does not create a replacement for a fob that is gone.

Plan a spare around the functions you use

For a spare-key appointment, identify whether you need door access, remote buttons and engine starting. Tell us the year and model and keep the working fob available. Mention an aftermarket remote before arranging service so the relevant part and condition can be reviewed.

For a truck parked at a job or home

Provide the actual parking location and the person authorized to approve vehicle work. Ask what the estimate includes and how the finished key will be checked.
