Chevrolet Key Not Detected: Plan the Next Step

CAR KEY HELP · CHEVROLET

A Chevrolet warning about a missing or undetected remote does not tell the whole story. Note whether the fob is present, whether its buttons work and whether a second fob behaves differently. That is more useful than ordering a remote based only on the case.

Use the model’s low-power guidance

Chevrolet explains that equipped vehicles have model-specific provisions when fob battery or signal power is lost, including a designated key pocket for starting. The pocket location varies, so consult the owner’s manual for your vehicle. This guidance concerns a present, recognized key in a low-power situation; it is not a substitute for replacing a lost fob.

Separate three possible requests

Keys visible inside the car suggest an access request. A fob that is present but unreliable needs symptom and compatibility review. A completely missing key requires a replacement conversation, with the year, model and whether any spare remains. Report recent damage or exposure as well, because changing a battery does not repair every electronic fault.

Choose the scope before the visit

For Wilmington or Leland service, provide the parking location and confirm current availability. Ask which key functions are included in the estimate and keep any remaining working keys available. A replacement plan should be matched to the exact vehicle instead of a broad Chevrolet model-family assumption.
